Seaweed farming has been one of the major source of livelihood for Filipinos for so many years already especially for those living in the coastal regions of the Visayas and Mindanao. With an estimated farmable area of about 355,000 hectares and only about 43,306 hectares (as of December 2002) occupied so far, seaweed farming offers a great opportunity for Filipinos to have an alternative source of income.

Different methods of farming were developed to effectively and efficiently grow seaweeds in a very easy and simple way.
